Show Notes for Episode 4

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings a song by this name. It is not this one.
Eva and I wrote this one prolific night when the Holy Spirit gifted us with two songs.
The other one is entitled "Eternity," and one day it will be shared on this podcast.
I used the Adobe Audition program so that I could layer musical tracks. I don't read
music so I couldn't carefully notate each picked note on the guitar. Instead I just went wild,
hitting every note I happened to hit. After the tornado struck my guitar, I simply
eliminated all the wrong notes from this track and voila! A song that sounds reasonably good!
And it appears that the guitarist is a knowledgable master of his craft. Not so, kim-o-sabe, not so.

Consider the Lilies

By Vic & Eva Zarley

Consider the lilies of the field.
They neither toil nor spin
Yet not even Solomon in all of his glory
Was ever clothed like them
Your Heavenly Father feeds and clothes you,
So cast your cares on Him.
Don't worry about tomorrow's problems,
God's taken care of them.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny
Yet not a one will fall
Apart from the will of your Heavenly Father
His hand is on us all
For even the hairs of your head are numbered
So do not be afraid
You are worth more than many sparrows
And for your soul, He's paid

I love this poem. I want what caused the words, the painting, the musical composition,
the whatever. I believe I wrote this after a small, miraculous incident happened when I lived
in Florida. It was the 80s. I was just recently divorced and rooming with a bunch of college kids.
I had just heard a sermon that Sunday morning and was quite interested in finding a
particular passage in the Bible that was a key point that morning. It was about bones
growing flesh and coming alive. I took a brief nap and when I woke up, I grabbed a really
thick Bible I had (that included the Apocrypha) and opened it up--RIGHT TO THE EXACT
PAGE OF THAT SCRIPTURE! (It's in Ezekiel, by the way) My mouth dropped open and I looked up and thanked God.
Truthfully, I want what caused me to open to that exact scripture. I want the creativity of God!
Directly! I don't want to just read about miraculous stories. I want my own stories. That is kind of
what is behind "Beyond the Pages."

Beyond the Pages

by Vic Zarley

Oh, words of inspiration
How you comfort and console
As I read about the workings
Of the power in my soul

The words are reassuring
The pages, wet with tears
Oh, how I know the truth is here
The truth outshines my fears

I want the jewel beyond the page
I want what caused the words
I want the feelings all the time
God speaks to us--I've heard

Within my soul, a sweet release
Sweeps away my unbelief
I know He's here to my relief
My mind, in Christ, is now unleashed

God's Word will shine
Through for the ages
As we take its truth
Beyond the pages

A great big thanks to A.K. 1974 for their instrumental entitled Sands of Orahc which I found at Jamendo.com
